Karl Beckenbauer took a brilliant victory in a dramatic Australian Grand Prix. Will Hoskins and Enrique Ruiz also impressed taking 2nd and 3rd place for defending champions Franklin.
Following a controversial afternoon in the media between Peugeot and Downton. Peugeot have issued a statement following the statements of Lewis Ellington:
'We are aware that Lewis Ellington made sharp comments at the end of the Grand Prix. They were very much spontaneous comments made in direct response to shocking allegations. Lewis has since retracted his statements and insisted no harmful intent was made. Kazuki Armos has insisted that this apology to Downton is sincere as he feels that the strong statements were more a response due to the racing and a heated of the moment comment. The team have insisted they have dealt with the situation accordingly and hope there will be no further conflict between Downton and Peugeot in the future'. After today's race Peugeot driver Lewis Ellington has hit out at comments made by Downton driver and Team Principal Bradley Downton.
Downton F1 driver Marcus Thunder has declared himself "delighted" with his and the teams performance during the season opening Australian Grand Prix.
The nineteen year old Brit - who is still the youngest driver on the grid - brought his car home in fifth place after qualifying it seventh. Defending World Champion Nathaniel Powers has blasted Fun F1's Romano Agostino after the incident that eliminated him from the season opening Australian Grand Prix.
Agostino suffered a suspension failure on the run to turn five and stopped in the middle of the corner. leaving Powers and a recovering Adrien Simon nowhere to go. Bradley Downton has agreed with close friend Robert Mathershaw over how Gerard Alaniz should be punished for his actions during the Australian Grand Prix.
Alaniz blocked leader Adrien Simon for almost an entire lap allowing Simon's teammate Karl Beckenbauer through to take the lead and eventual win. Alaniz then proceeded to swerve across in front of Simon causing a scary accident. Nine players entered the first round of the Predictions Championship, and all of them did terribly. Out of a possible 50 points the highest score went to Lucas Wilson with 7. All players were therefore incredibly close.
See the full list of results and current standings below Kazuki Armos has revealed in the paddock today that Peugeot will supply engines to another team for next season. He revealed that a deal is in place to serve engines to one team and hopefully more teams. Armos failed to reveal the identity of the team. He however said that the team who are receiving the engines will reveal their identity in due course.
The Peugeot engines so far look competitive, powering Lewis Ellington to 5th and Regi Abott to 8th in todays qualifying. Elroy Wagner has spoken out against his team, KLM Team 23, after qualifying 19th for the Australian Grand Prix.
Marcus Thunder has said qualifying seventh for the Australian Grand Prix was better than he'd ever expected. Having had a mixed pre-season testing for Downton, being ninth in practice was a real boost for Thunder, however teammate Powers struggled down in twentieth. Come qualifying however the team achieved seventh and thirteenth. |
