Downton reserve Matteo Zetticci has topped practice for the Belgian V-Prix, in a session with saw the top six covered by less than seven hundredths of a second. The Italian - looking in great spirits to seemingly confirm recent rumours that he has signed an FV contract for 2022 - was just 0.005 ahead of Marcus Thunder, the Lucas driver continuing his fine form from Turkey as he hunts for another podium finish. Mathershaw Porsche's Enrique Ruiz was next up in third, just another thousandth further back as he looks to bounce back from a run of difficult races. Adrien Simon backed his team mate up in fourth while Nathaniel Powers completed the top five, less than three hundredths behind team mate Zetticci with Lopez's Allar Kangur also in striking distance to set up a potentially mouth-watering qualifying session. Danilo Forini and Nick Addison followed behind for Franklin, while FIRST's Felix Perez and Lopez's Elroy Wagner completed the top ten ahead of Thierry Xylander, the Belgian keen to put on a strong show for his home crowd who were out in force even on Friday, with the majority of the crowd seen sporting Phoenix team-wear. Further back James Vasquez was once again faster than Jean Mattson, while Jochem van Snelheid got another practice run in the Westwood and lapped faster than Jules Barclay - the Canadian looking to build on his fantastic sixth place finish in Turkey. Highwind and Meteor propped up the timesheets once again, though Karl Beckenbauer and Nikolai Milkovich were only two and three tenths respectively off of Zander Brynildsen, the Norwegian looking slightly off-colour and off-pace - some six tenths behind team mate Yakumi Takahashi - to give Highwind some hope in the Q1 battle.
