After a stunning performance in Dubai last time out, Xylander shows to have continued his form into this weekend. He topped practice by over a tenth of a second ahead of Zettici. Klaas rounded out the top three, meaning the top three were all powered by Downton's engines. It was a day of impressive performances, as Giodano will have given some hope to Ocelot with the fourth fastest time of the afternoon, followed by Perez who seemed more confident than he's looked in recent races. Thunder once again showed the potential of the Lucas by taking sixth place ahead of Allar Kangur. It was a bad start to the weekend for Mathershaw as they were one of three teams to miss the deadline for strategy; their woes won't be alleviated by their performance in practice, clocking in just eighth and tenth. Splitting them in the middle was Hoskins, with a very quick hotlap late on in his qualifying sim. Looking further back, it was less than Franklin would've hoped for as they saw both cars struggle outside of the top ten. Once again it looked as though the balance was difficult to find with such an aerodynamically sensitive car. Alvarez had a strong showing in twelfth but was over half a second off of his teammate's super lap. Wagner and Thunstrom also struggled relative to their teammates, two and three tenths off respectively. However between them was Vasquez, showing more promising pace than we saw from Ingram last time out in what was a torrid weekend for them. It was Takahashi looking best of the Q1 contenders - and then several other cars on top of that. He was eighteenth also ahead of AMR and the Ingram piloted by Oleksandr Zozulya. The Ukrainian was only about two tenths off of his teammate upon his return to the sport and seemed to take to the car fairly quickly. Brock Kidd and Zander Brynildsen seemed to struggle all session and as a result did not enjoy the safe gap they often hold over Highwind and Meteor. While Brynildsen will qualify by default, Kidd will surely be cautious of a possible upset in Q1 if he can't find a comfortable balance for that North Star. Full classification below. We look forward to qualifying tomorrow then and as always we'll be providing exclusive coverage. Check in tomorrow for the action!
