Mere days after all of the aftermath of the changing of the guard, with Nic Morley stepping down and Phoenix owner and team principal Alex Easton stepping up to the plate, speculation has been rife with what will happen to the British outfit. The new Formula Virtual chief, and devilishly charming Alex Easton has opened up applications for his successor and rumours have it that he has been inundated with offers to take up the mantle at Phoenix.
Once such application has come from former Excelsior Team Principal Adam Willis, who has clear his intentions to throw his hat into the ring. "Alex is one of those guys who has always been really welcoming in the paddock so it's sort of a bittersweet feeling. I think he's the perfect person to succeed Nic, but it's sad that it's looking like he will step down from his role at Phoenix. Having said that, I'm really excited about the opportunity here. I don't know exactly what kind of person Alex will be looking for in a successor, but I'm hoping my stint with Excelsior doesn't hamper that. I know how things looked from the outside with a team that failed to pre-qualify in every race we entered, but we did have plans to improve...it just never came to fruition due to extenuating circumstances. I really am hoping to get the chance to continue Phoenix's legacy, because it deserves to be preserved. Dare I say, from the ashes of Excelsior I want to rise like the...no? Sorry, I'll show myself out," Applications for the vacant position will be closed on Friday 18th March, with no indication yet as to when the new Team Principal will be announced.
