On a bright, sunny Waitangi Day in Auckland Toyota Kōwhai Racing revealed their new car for 2024, the Rua. With a new specification of car has come new sponsors, and the team is proud to unveil a new partnership with New Zealand’s largest homegrown bank, Kiwibank. The bank’s green colours adorn the Kōwhai’s sidepods, with room still left for the traditional yellow. Toyota Kōwhai Racing would also like to thank returning sponsors ITM, Giltrap Group, Goodyear and Toyota New Zealand for their continued support of New Zealand’s Formula Virtual team. Alex Tunnicliffe, Team Principal: We are delighted to be back for our second season with the support of Toyota and Kiwibank. We were very proud with our 13th place finish in 2023, and would love to reach even greater heights in 2024. Everyone is incredibly excited about our potential this season, especially with our excellent lineup of Marcus and Maximillian, and we truly believe that we can push on in 2024 with the resources that we have. Maximilian Thunström, Driver #32: It’s great to be a part of this team, although the jet lag is perhaps not the best. Obviously very excited to be back on the grid for 2024, and Toyota Kōwhai Racing have shown a lot of ambition to improve so that I can fight in races and not just qualifying sessions. But overall, just great to be back on the grid, and I hope I can show what I’m all about this season.
