Toyota Kōwhai Racing are very pleased to announce the signings of four drivers for the 2023 Formula Virtual season.
Hunter Ryan joins on loan from Ocelot Japan Team after having made 65 starts in 4 years, registering 15 points finishes and a high of 4th place in the 2021 Mexican V-Prix. Hunter also has an admirable junior series record, achieving 15 race wins and 2 titles in his progression up the Formula Virtual ladder. Racing alongside Hunter will be the experienced Marcus Thunder, returning to Formula Virtual after a stint in eVirtual with Downton McLaren. Marcus brings experience to our team, having scored 1 win and 5 podiums in 7 seasons of racing for both Downton FV Team and Lucas V-Prix as well as claiming a thrilling championship in IndyVirtual in 2018. The reserve slot will be filled by Dominykas Zvironas. Dominykas has great value to offer our team as a driver with FV experience who can help develop the car but who also has the pace to step into a race seat, as demonstrated by his 2019 VWRS title. Lastly, we are delighted to announce the formation of the Kōwhai Racing academy with the first slot being filled by the 2022 VERS rookie champion, Dani de la Fuente. The team look forward to working with an exciting young talent like Dani and developing his abilities. Alex Tunnicliffe, Team Principal: Today is a very exciting day for the team, I think we have brought in a great group of drivers not just for next season but for the future as well with Dani. It was not easy to pick two race drivers which I think speaks to the quality of all 3 drivers we have signed. We are sure that with this lineup we can make a strong debut in 2023. Rai Miyamoto, Ocelot Japan Team: ''We are proud to announce that Hunter will be joining Kowhai for the 2023 season. We know how important a first year can be for a new team. So we knew we could reach a deal that would help all parties. Hunter is also very excited for the chance to possibly lead the new boys! We hope he can relish the chance and gain some of his confidence back. He's still important to the Ocelot Family.”
