Enrique Ruiz has claimed his third consecutive pole position at Hockeinheim today by less than a tenth over his teammate Simon, making it a front row lockout for Porsche Mathershaw. Pre-Qualifying Finn Schnyder topped the Pre-Qualifying session once again, almost two tenths clear of Tumo Kinnumen in second, while his teammate Zozulya completed the top three in the session. Barclay was just off in P4 while the two meteors made it through on account of the exclusion of the Lopez cars. Full results below. Qualifying Enrique Ruiz and Adrien Simon spent all session trading blows at the top of the timing sheets, the teammates besting eachother and lowering laptimes all the way to the chequered flag. The nearest anybody was able to get to them was Klaas van Snelheid, who was nearly two tenths off of the slowest Porsche Mathershaw. He'll be joined on the second row by Allar Kangur who found some exceptional pace during the latter half of qualifying. Further back, there was another outstanding performance from Yakumi Takahashi as he set a lap good enough for 7th on the grid tomorrow. The Japanese driver was the only driver besides Ruiz who was able to get a lap in as late as possible, and he absolutely nailed it, setting an incredible lap. Hunter Ryan also did a good job to put his car into 9th place, as Ocelot desperately try to catch up to the battle for 3rd in the Constructor's Championship. North Star had a much better time of things than they did in practice, with their cars qualifying 13th and 15th and looking consistent all session. Meanwhile, Jean Mattson's struggles from practice carried over to qualifying as he was only able to lap fast enough for 18th place - a major blow to Ingram in their bid for 3rd place after their excellent finish last time out in Silverstone. Outside the top 20, it was Highwind and Westwood who battled to avoid the dreaded last spot on the grid, as the Meteors seemed to be further off the pace here and never looked able to stay within 102% of the best lap as the times tumbled. Surprisingly, Jules Barclay also fell short of the 102% rule, the Canadian not looking comfortable in the car all weekend. However, at the discretion of Nic Morley, he has been permitted to line up on the grid tomorrow. Full results below. We're surely set for a race packed with overtakes up and down the field, and it will be fascinating to watch strategies unfold - we can't wait for you to join us!
