Team principal of Team 23 Andae d'Hazorme has said he was "not amused" by Jean Mattson's decision to stay out on dry tyres, when rain was starting to fall during the closing stages of the German Grand Prix. "Mattson reported that he thought the conditions were still OK to drive. We told him that driver on the wets were doing laps five seconds faster than him and instructed him to pit a few times. Mattson ignored our call, spun, dropped down the order and decided to pit on the very last lap.
"What he doesn't get is that if you're leading the race, you shouldn't take risks. He must learn to respect his team's insights." Jean Mattson said he thought he knew what he was doing. "I could still drive the car, I mean, obviously it was more slippery than normal, but it was OK. I stayed out because for sure that's what I did, obviously." Elroy Wagner, who was not involved in this matter whatsoever, also wanted to comment on the situation: "I actually support Jean on this one: in wet condition, you are the only one that can judge the situation. Jean's decision turned out to be the wrong one, but at the time he thought he was making the right decisions. Nothing wrong with that. "Andae just thinks he knows everything. I mean, most of his comments are just Captain Hindsight anyway. He just needs to take a step back and let his drivers do whatever the **** they want."
