Team 23 has announced they will be powered by Downton engines next season. The British Downton team announced earlier this season they would be producing their own engines for the 2014 season. They were looking for another constructor to race their engines, and Team 23 had been the rumoured candidate.
"I'm very excited about about our new engine supplier for 2014." team principal Andae d'Hazorme said during a press conference following their 1-2 victory at the French Grand Prix. "Of course it's a bit of a risk: this will be Downton's first engine, so we can expect some reliability issues at the start. But especially in the long term, I think it is beneficial to hop on the Downton train straight away. "The team has presented an extensive report in which they explained their plans for next year, and our technical group are convinced the plans are solid. So at the moment, we are very confident." On the question whether Team 23 and Downton are considering a technical partnership that extends beyond the engine partnership, d'Hazorme said: "I have not discussed the option of a technical partnership yet with Bradley Downton, but we are certainly open to those conversation." The announcement also leaves the team's current engine supplier, Cosworth, without a team for 2014.
