Formula Virtual driver Will Taylor is set to miss the season ending Mexican V-Prix as Phoenix grant him permission to be with his wife during labour. Taylor and his wife, Leah, are expecting the birth of their third child imminently and Taylor’s team, Phoenix, have granted the Brit permission to sit out the Mexican V-Prix in order to not miss the birth. Will posted a message on social media which read; “Of course, I don’t like that I’ll be missing the final race of the season and part of me had hoped that the little’un would wait until after the season finished, but it was never in doubt for me to be there for the birth – as I was with Ben and Melody’s. My family is extremely important to me and they will always come first, I’m very grateful to drive for a team like Phoenix who understand that. Thank you to all the messages of kindness from you all, here’s hoping the team can do a job without me!” With Taylor – who has had a strong debut season in Formula Virtual – unavailable, Phoenix have made the decision to replace him with their reserve driver; James Thompson. Thompson, also known as ‘Big JT’, ‘The Honey Muncher’, or ‘Chuckle Brother #2’, has appeared in just one Formula Virtual race – the 2020 Brazilian V-Prix. The popular Brit was scheduled to replace Thierry Xylander at the 2021 Japanese V-Prix but was forced to withdraw after ending up hospitalised after alcohol induced shenanigans the night before qualifying. Thompson has spent 2022 driving in VWRS – his first full time drive since the 2018 season – where he ended the season on 24 points which included a podium finish at Laguna Seca. All eyes will be on Thompson to see if he can finally score a point in Formula Virtual.
