Sven Schubert will lead operations of the Porsche FV entry for 2023. It has been confirmed that Sven Schubert will become the team principle of Porsche FV Team for 2023 and beyond. The news comes after a week it was revealed that Robert Mathershaw would step away from running a FV team and thus selling the team outright to Porsche. It was also recently announced that Adrien Simon would be retiring from the sport which sees and end of an era.
Sven Schubert joined the Formula Virtual paddock this year as the deputy team principle for Phoenix. In 2023 he will lead the charge for the Porsche works team. Enrique Ruiz remains contracted with the team, however speculation will be rampant on who slots in to the second driver role for 2023. "First of all, thanks to Porsche and FV for the opportunity! I know I'm not that long in FV so its an honor to take over this huge responsibility and opportunity. We're here to fight and win championships. Also a big thanks to Alex and the whole of Phoenix who took me under his wing and with his help and guidance he has been a big help in this journey to be an FV team principal!", said Sven Schubert. This will mark the second time in Formula Virtual history in which a team has been passed on to a new team principle. However it has been confirmed this Porsche works entry is not a continuation of the Mathershaw squad. "I am very pleased to see Sven take up the role of Porsche team principle for 2023. He has joined this year but he has shown such enthusiasm for the sport and I think he will do a fantastic job with Porsche. It's a huge opportunity for sure and we don't see this often in Formula Virtual. I want to welcome Sven to FV as a team principle and I am excited to see what the next few years bring for him and what he can do with Porsche", said Nic Morley. It remains to be seen if the customer team of Porsche, Lopez, will continue on with their supply deal.
