Championship leader Adrien Simon has topped the practice session for his home V-Prix, but arguably the surprise of practice was the shock debut of Finn Schnyder at AMR. It was widely known the Australian outfit had signed the former-Westwood driver, but with no official announcement made the team were expected to arrive in France with the usual line-up of Felix Beyer and Dmytro Kovalenko. Beyer however will sit out another race having been banned from the British V-Prix, as Schnyder makes his debut with the team, setting the 21st fastest time. At the opposite end Ryota Yoshida was Simon's closest challenger with just over a tenth splitting the pair, while Nathaniel Powers, Enrique Ruiz and Puccio Giodano were all also with half a second. Sam Hudson got his first practice outing for Downton in place of Klaas van Snelheid and was just over five tenths off the pace ahead of Rodolfo de la Fuente, who was likewise making his practice debut but for Franklin in place of Olen Inman. The Spaniard was only a tenth and a half down on Ruiz, despite an early water pressure problem that let him in the garage for twenty minutes. Allar Kangur was eighth fastest ahead of the two Holmqvist's and Ingram's, with Sergio Alvarez impressively setting a time just a tenth slower than Kinnumen and some half a second quicker than the second 'group' of teams. Further back Stefan Klien also made his first practice outing for FIRST - lapping just a tenth behind Oleksandr Zozulya - while Kovalenko completed the runners, just over three seconds off the pace and five tenths back from Schnyder.
