Liverpool Grand Prix have lived up to their pre season hype after locking out the front row of the grid for tomorrows season opener at Albert Park. Adrien Simon edged out his teammate Karl Beckenbauer by a mere two hundredths of a second to take pole position. After a small chance of rain, the teams, drivers and fans were instead treated to a warm and sunny day at the Albert Par circuit. As Simon pipped Beckenbauer to pole position in the dying seconds of the session, it was Will Hoskins who moved up to qualify in third. Puccio Giodano set the fourth fastest time for Scuderia Rossi after an impressive pre season. Lewis Ellington qualified in fifth on his return to the series, driving for Peugeot F1 Team. Enrique Ruiz posted the sixth fastest time and doing so was faster than seventh fastest Marcus Thunder for Downton F1 Team. Regi Abott was the second Peugeot driver in the top ten, the Belgian driver set the eighth fastest time. Carson Davenport was ninth fastest for Lucas Grand Prix, while Enzo Domenicalli rounded out the top ten. Team 23's woes continued as they could only manage the twelfth and nineteenth quickest in the hands of Jean Mattson and Elroy Wagner. Nikolai Milkovich who fastest in yesterdays practice session qualified in fourteenth. Westwood Racing also looked good in practice yesterday however their best lap was only the eleventh quickest with Tumo Kinnumen behind the wheel. Fun F1 who are now powered by Yamaha were seventeenth and twenty first quickest in the hands of Romano Agostino and Hugh Dwyer. Warrior Racing proved best of the new teams with Michal Kubat setting the sixteenth fastest time. The Force Australia drivers could only manage twenty second and twenty fourth. As many predicted it looks as if Liverpool Grand Prix could be the ones to beat this season. The race itself can only tell whether others can beat them to the finish line. Can Liverpool start the season with a win? Can Franklin defend their championship? Will Scuderia Rossi live up to their testing speed? How will Peugeot perform as the first fully fledged manufacturer team in the series? Can Downton prove Nathaniel Powers move was the right decision? Can Lucas Grand Prix continue on with success they showed towards the end of last season? How will Westwood perform with their very own engines? Are Team 23 really in trouble? Are Ingram Grand Prix really on the up? Will Fun F1 continue to have fun this season or is the pressure of good results getting to them? Who will be the best of the new teams out of Force Australia and Warrior Racing? Many of these questions will be answered tomorrow Rain is forecast for tomorrow and their is a high chance the race could be effected by wet weather at some point. Will this make the season opener even more unpredictable than what it already is?
