Lopez reserve driver Raj Sharma has topped day two of pre-season testing, despite an early crash and another spin later on. The Indian - who became the first of his countrymen to participate in an FV session yesterday - crashed and broke the front wing off of his Lopez on his very first lap out of the pits, but following a short stay in the garage while the car was checked over he was able to return to action. He had a further spin later in the afternoon, but this was followed by a stunning lap time on the super soft tyres to put Lopez top of day, nearly a second clear of second placed Matteo Zetticci, once again driving the Downton. Second through to seventh nearly ran exclusively on the soft tyres - the only exception being Felix Perez's FIRST in fifth, who ran mediums - with just six tenths of a second covered Zetticci, Johan Halvosen in the North Star, Enrique Ruiz's Mathershaw Porsche, Danilo Forini on his Franklin debut, and Jochem van Snelheid on reserve driver duties for Westwood. Just under two tenths further back was James Thompson - underlining Phoenix's strong day one pace - while Dmytro Kovalenko continued to show improved pace for AMR in ninth. Zander Brynildsen rounded out the top 10 for Arrow, albeit four tenths back from the Ukranian. Meteor's fortunes turned wildly from yesterday when Giani Ledesma put them second on super softs, as Felix Beyer on the softs could only manage 11th fastest, behind four medium-shod runners and some six tenths behind the next slowest medium tyred runner. Behind the Dutchman, Diego Campos continued his duties for Highwind on the mediums, while James Vasquez and Maximilian Thunstrom got their first tastes of the new Ingram and Lucas respectively, albeit both on the hard tyres, explaining the relative lack of pace. Ocelot reserve Ryota Yoshida propped up the time sheets on the mediums, but was limited to just a handful of laps during the day after being sidelined with an engine issue.
