Having almost left the sport at the end of 2019 after Franklin were scheduled to leave and Andromeda who did leave, with Ingram going to pastures new with the likes of Jaguar, Honda found themselves doing a 180, staying in the sport, with their successful partners - Franklin. Since then, Honda have made it abundantly clear that they are looking to increase their number of customers going into 2021. The Japanese manufacturer has also took it upon themselves to announce that they are going to be back to their formidable best in the new year, after a particularly difficult year at the back with Franklin. A recent tweet from the company's social media account stated that 'The 2021 engine, the Honda Redemption, is looking very promising...'
Given this information, you'd start to wonder whether there is any truth to the rumours that some teams could have a little bit of a shake up in the new year. The currently Downton-supplied team Phoenix is one of those teams closely linked with a possible switch to Honda, with rumours circulating that both Honda and people at Franklin had been speaking with the team. Those rumours intensified today as blurry images of a potential livery change for Phoenix surfaced online, with the original source still being unknown. Whilst it's difficult to make out any particular changes, it's clear to see the addition of white, which tends to be closely linked to the Honda brand. Neither team were available to comment at this time, so the jury is still out as to whether Phoenix will be making the switch to the highly anticipated Honda next season, or whether Honda have been able to secure another team at all.
