Nathaniel Powers and Klaas van Snelheid will both remain as race drivers at Downton in 2021 - extending their record for most races as team mates. The duo have been partnered together since the start of 2017 - van Snelheid's rookie year in the series - and have famously got on rather well, despite battling for the Championship in most of their seasons together.
Following today's British V-Prix - in which the team finished 3rd and 5th - Downton confirmed the news. "We let both drivers down today with poor strategy, and stepped aside to allow FIRST to walk through the door that Mathershaw opened for us. This season hasn't really gone our way as yet, we've made too many errors from a team and strategy point of view. However, we aim to change that and do better for the drivers going forwards, both for the rest of this year and when we all come back in 2021." "Our driver line-up will remain unchanged next season despite the previous talk of unrest at the team, which was of course absolute nonsense. Matteo Zetticci will likewise be retaining his role as the reserve driver. We can also confirm we have signed a contract with former IndyVirtual Champion Brock Kidd. The aim was to help him find his way into Formula Virtual following the success of his former competitors Yakumi Takahashi and Nick Addison. This very much seems to have worked; we have agreed a deal with another team to take him on next season - and shall leave it for those parties to announce as and when they see fit."
