Formula Virtual team Phoenix have today announced their full line-up for the 2024 season, which is due to begin in April, becoming the latest team to confirm their place on the grid. The announcement, on the team’s website, reads as follows: “Royal Phoenix Motorsport is delighted to finalise our 2024 driver lineup following the conclusion of all contract negotiations with our drivers. Will Taylor has signed a one-year extension and so will continue to drive for us for a third season in 2024 alongside Ott Eskola – who was previously announced on a two-year deal last year. Will will drive the #41 car again this season with Ott keeping the #42 car. Our ever-faithful reserve driver, James Thompson, has once again committed the next year to Phoenix and will remain with us for the ninth year in a row. ‘JT’ will remain in his role as test & reserve driver. Joining him in the role this season – following Abel moving into a driver development role with the team – is Chloe King. Chloe will shadow JT in the role and will be given the opportunity to experience a number of Friday Practice session outings throughout the year.” This announcement will come as little surprise to anyone but does stand Phoenix on a solid footing, heading into such a potentially tumultuous 2024 season. The new regulations are bound to shake up the known order but Phoenix will at least appreciate the fact they have two proven drivers in Taylor and Eskola. “We’re buzzing to have Will and Ott tied down for another season,” said Team Principal Alex Easton when speaking to FVTV. “They have both proven themselves as great assets to Phoenix and it will be a pleasure to work with them both for one more year. Of course, it’s always great to get JT signed up for another year. It might seem like a formality to most but we appreciate his work so much and his dedication to the team is unmatched; Phoenix without JT would definitely feel like missing an arm. For the first time ever, we’ve got it as part of his contract for 2024 that he’ll compete in a minimum of two full race weekends during the season, so fans of JT have that to look forward to. Chloe, meanwhile, joined The Hive in 2021 and has continued to grow as a driver over the last three years to the point where we feel she is almost at the point to take the next step, into Formula Virtual. We’ll give her some time in the car in pre-season testing then a couple of Friday Practice sessions whilst making sure none of it distracts her from her goals in VWRS.”
