Less than 72 hours removed from his best ever finish in Formula Virtual, it has been reported that Aleksy Nowosinki has left North Star Racing with immediate effect. The Pole took to Twitter this morning to reveal the news, but not before taking a swipe at his now former team. "Gave NSR their best result, just been kicked out of the team. #SoLongAndThanksForAllTheTyres"
Relations between Nowosinki and team principal Nick Forrest had become increasingly strained between the Austrian and British V-Prix. The choice of super-soft tyres put the Pole on, as he claimed, an 'awful' strategy in Austria, and team's reserve driver Gabriele García took his seat in Friday Practice for the third time this season during the subsequent round. Forrest explained to the media, however, that this is part of a deal with Ocelot, which will see Nowosinki racing for the Japanese outfit for the remainder of the season, while three-time race winner Karl Beckenbauer will move to North Star and race alongside Judson Sikes from Belgium onwards. "This has been in the works for a few weeks now," Forrest told reporters, "The midfield battle is as fierce as it's ever been, and Aleksy - as strong a weekend as Silverstone was - just hasn't been putting in the performances. That's cost us results, cost us points, and might well cost us money at the end of the day." "We need a driver that can match up to Judson on a consistent basis, and in the current market, we believe Karl is that driver." Forrest was eager to scotch suggestions that this has come about due to repeatedly butting heads with his now former driver. "I admit that Aleksy's attitude off the track wasn't great," he began, "But it's his on-track results that have brought this about. Holding Judson up in Australia, for example, crashing out of a likely points position in Germany, spinning off and losing time in Britain." "Our car's looking more and more promising, and we can't afford any more silly mistakes like those. Karl, we hope, has the experience and racecraft to find that big result that our rivals have gotten, and hopefully move us further up the table in the latter half of the season." "We wish Aleksy all the best at Ocelot, though," Forrest concluded, "and who knows, he might have another Silverstone performance in store for them."
