Nick Forrest has said that North Star Racing will maintain their focus on next season in the aftermath of the Italian V-Prix. Meteor slashed the gap to North Star in the battle for fifth in the Constructors' Championship, with the American outfit seeing both cars finish in the top five, while Gabriele García retired late on due to drivetrain failure.
"It's going to be a very tough ask to keep them behind us after a result like that, fair play to them," Forrest told media after the race. "I think given our relative pace, there's very little chance we can hold onto fifth this year, but our eye has been on 2020 for some time now." The North Star team principal also praised the work of current Meteor owner and principal Shane O'Connell. "He's done some fantastic things in the short time he's been there, considering where they were in the pecking order when he arrived, to be fighting with FIRSTs on merit this season already is a brilliant achievement." However, Forrest went on to explain that North Star are aiming to take advantage of the upcoming departure of Franklin at the end of the 2019 season. "We're looking at the long game, putting everything we have into seizing the opportunity to be fighting at the front of the field, and we will not compromise on that."
