North Star Racing have unveiled their new car for the 2022 Formula Virtual season, the NS-07, in an online event broadcast from their team headquarters in Perth, Scotland. The car features a special "glitch" livery, which will be run exclusively during the upcoming pre-season test. With details difficult to make out, this leaves a number of questions open as to what design elements the team have added to their 2022 challenger. Team principal Nick Forrest was on hand to lift the covers off the NS-07, alongside the race driver pairing of Johan Halvosen and Brock Kidd, maintained from 2021, plus test and reserve driver Hector Draper, who secured 3rd place in his final VWRS campaign, finishing the year a single point behind new Highwind signee Daniel Zientek. North Star were one of the teams most badly affected by the sweeping regulation changes brought in for 2021, falling from a career best 4th in the Constructors' standings in 2020, to their lowest ever result of 13th in 2021, securing only one point all season courtesy of Halvosen's 10th place finish at Spa-Francorchamps. Before the reveal, Forrest addressed the viewing audience. "It's no secret that last year's car had a whole plethora of difficulties associated with it. Aerodynamically, our philosophy simply didn't work with these new cars: The NS-06 produced too much drag, not enough downforce, lacked balance and was extremely difficult to drive. Our 2021 performance was therefore a long way from where we both wanted and expected it to be." "This year, however, we've redesigned the entire car from the ground up. We're hoping it gives both Johan and Brock a platform where they can challenge for the results we know they're capable of, Hector a strong base to continue his preparation for a full race seat in future, and the team a foundation to continue learning from, and start our journey back to the front of the midfield." Forrest, though, remained cautious as to how well he expects the team to perform this year. "If last season proved anything, it's that you can never truly judge the performance of any team until the lights go out for the first race. This season is where we start our recovery from last year, but we'll have to wait and see how that's borne out across the season." Further images of the NS-07 can be seen below.
