North Star Racing has unveiled the NS-06, their new car for the 2021 Formula Virtual season, at their team base in Perth, Scotland. The NS-06, the sixth car produced by the Scottish-Canadian team since their debut five years ago, is designed to a set of sweeping regulation changes put in place for 2021, including narrower cars and restrictions on certain aerodynamic components, such as smaller bargeboards and the removal of shark fins. This, along with the opening of development in other areas of the cars, it is hoped will facilitate overtaking and shake up the order of the field, leading to more exciting racing. "I'm very excited to see how the field shakes out come testing," team principal Nick Forrest told reporters. "There's always a lot of intrigue in seeing which teams have moved up to bring the challenge to the front of the grid." The team heads into 2021 following its best season to date, recovering from a poor opening two rounds to overhaul newly-crowned race winners Lopez and fend off a late charge from Ingram to finish 4th in the Constructors' standings. Forrest believes the team can challenge the frontrunners on a more regular basis in the upcoming season. "As always, it does depend on what other teams have been getting up to," he said. "We know there's certain teams that have been investing very heavily into 2021, but there's a real sense of optimism among the guys here going forward." "Johan was absolutely stellar last season, bringing us our best ever result in Formula Virtul, we've Brock coming on board, who's an incredibly exciting talent, and battling for the championthip in eVirtual right now. We're really looking forward to that midfield scrap that we're expecting, and everyone here is very eager to start taking the fight to the likes of Downton and Mathershaw." Johan Halvosen remains with the team for a fourth season, while Brock Kidd will make his Formula Virtual debut alongside the Dane.
