The Downton FV Team have this evening confirmed their Formula Virtual future is secure after agreeing a new manufacturer deal following the announcement that DS Automobiles will exit at the end of the season. Downton have been a Formula Virtual manufacturer in their own right since 2014 - building both the car and engine - but have also always had support from an external manufacturer, and stated this was crucial to keeping the team and company going.
"We're delighted to confirm that we have agreed a new manufacturer deal to keep ourselves secure in Formula Virtual," team principal Bradley Downton commented. "While we run everything ourselves, the deal we had with DS Automobiles was quite lucrative, and without that financial injection - and incredible knowledge to tune and get the best from our engine - we would have struggled to remain in Formula Virtual, let alone remain competitive. This new deal is exciting for all parties involved however, and we're thrilled to be moving forwards with a manufacturer that has such history." Downton refused to confirm who the deal was with, stating: "We will reveal all in good time, but if you think about, it'll make a lot of sense. We'd like to thank DS Automobiles for everything over the last five and a bit years, and hope that together we can make the sixth equally as successful, and bring home another pair of titles."
