Adrien Simon topped the opening practice session for 2020 ahead of his team mate Enrique Ruiz by just 0.039, but his running was limited when with 20 minutes to go the Frenchmans engine went into 'limp home' mode and confined him to the garage for the remainder of the session. Engine problems have plagued the new Porsche engine throughout pre-season testing with all three teams experiencing problems, although this appeared sorted on the final day. The German manufacturer will be hoping this is merely a blip, and does not rear it's head again. While potentially unreliable though, the engine seems quick. The Mathershaw duo were some two tenths clear of the rest of the field which was led by the Downton pair; Nathaniel Powers beating Klaas van Snelheid by just four thousandths of a second. Will Hoskins and Felix Perez were next up in the FIRST cars - another tenth further back - while behind them four different teams rounded out the top ten all within half a tenth of each other; Allar Kangur, Johan Halvosen, Thierry Xylander and Hunter Ryan. An impressive fourteen drivers were within a second of the top time, while the entire field spread was only just over two; with new boys Arrow bringing up the rear behind the AMR duo. This could prove crucial in tomorrow's Q1 session, as their competitors Westwood and Cheema ended the day solidly in the midfield. The session was largely uneventful, with the only incident occurring around fifteen minutes in when Tumo Kinnumen in the Cheema was distracted while changing settings on his steering wheel and ran into the back of Sergio Alvarez's Phoenix under braking, causing minor damage to both cars - though both were able to venture out again later in the session.
