Nathaniel Powers stole pole position for the Belgian V-Prix in the dying seconds of qualifying from team mate Klaas van Snelheid, who had held it for nearly the entire session. The Dutchman was amongst the first five drivers to set a lap time and remained in the top spot until Powers beat him by by just 0.033 of a second with a lap set just forty seconds before the session ended. Q1Eager to get more running after a difficult practice session, the Arrow cars of Lewis Ellington and Yakumi Takahashi queued at the end of the pitlane waiting for the line to go green, and duly set the early pace in Q1. The German outfit didn't remain on top for long though, as both Franklin's went nine tenths quicker with their first runs to ease into the top two positions. Unsurprisingly the Meteor team struggled to find pace with Felix Beyer ending up closest to the eventual fastest time set by Nick Addison, albeit still some 1.3 seconds behind. The bigger shock was that it put him fifth fastest, as the pace AMR showed in practice deserted them, and left both Franklin's and Arrow's with an easy pass into Q2. Rafael Palou - making his race weekend debut for AMR - impressively lapped quicker than team mate Finn Schnyder by two tenths, as the sandwiched the second Meteor of Giani Ledesma. Though neither team really needed it, both Franklin and Arrow also ran twice, with Addison improving by two tenths of a second and the two Arrow's getting within seven tenths of his time. See below for full Q1 classification: Q2Keen to get running in after handing his car over to reserve driver Matteo Zetticci for practice, Nathaniel Powers headed the queue at the end of the pitlane and was the first man on track, but was immediately passed Nick Addison on the outlap, the Franklin driver keen for a clear track after strong performances up to this point. As such, the Australian duly took provisional pole position before being immediately beaten by Powers, though even that didn't last long - as just three cars behind Klaas van Snelheid smashed his time by seven tenths of a second. Powers ran again and improved by a tenth and a half, but his lack of running showed initially with a couple of missed braking zones, and once the Mathershaw Porsche drivers got onto track, was swiftly shuffled down to fourth, as the FIRST duo slotted into their now usual third row positions - Felix Perez leading Will Hoskins for the second race in a row. The second runs for the top teams saw few improvements, though Adrien Simon found enough to jump team mate Enrique Ruiz to a provisional front row slot and outqualify him for only the second time this season, though this became third once Powers completed his last lap, with his final run timed to be later than anyone else in the top six to ensure he got the best of the track conditions. Behind the now usual suspects on the front three rows, James Vasquez took the best of the rest position in seventh - some two tenths of a second clear of eighth placed Puccio Giodano, and four up on team mate Jean Mattson, who could only managed fourteenth. Johan Halvosen put his North Star onto the fifth row, but the most impressive performance came from the driver who will start alongside him - as Addison and Franklin continued their mighty Belgium form to take their first top ten position of the season. The two Phoenix cars line up on row sixth with Elroy Wagner just behind in a slightly better performance for Lopez than recent sessions, while Enzo Domenicalli backed up his Franklin team mates pace with fifteenth fastest. Further back, Ocelot struggled as they celebrate their 100th race entry - only being spared an eleventh row lockout by a late lap from Hunter Ryan, and a disappointing performance from a not quite up-to-speed Olen Inman, who was six tenths back from team mate Giodano - while Cheema and Arrow filled the final four places on the grid.
