Following a period of rumours surrounding Brit Kurtis Gardner, the driver confirmed this morning that he will indeed not be racing for Peugeot next season.
Gardner wrote on twitter this morning,
"Sad to confirm the rumours are true."
"Still hopeful I can get another seat #notgivingup".
The future of Garner racing with Peugeot next season was thrown into jeopardy when Peugeot withdraw a large portion of significant financial backing. Gardner is a relatively sponsor less driver and the team have now opted for a driver with significant financial benefits.
The team later issued a statement. 'With regret Peugeot can confirm that Kurtis Gardner is no longer contracted as a race driver next season. After a period of deliberation the senior officers took the option to terminate his racing contract with the team with immediate effect due to internal matters.'
Kazuki Armos confirmed in a previous interview that while Gardner may lose his racing contract he would maintain a contract as a reserve driver. However, the team have insisted they would allow Gardner to leave the team if another team offered Gardner a racing contract.
