The final Friday Practice of the season saw Klaas van Snelheid top the times, beginning the weekend in perfect fashion if the Dutchman wants any chance of stealing the World Championship from the clutches of teammate Nathaniel Powers. Klaas looked quick from the get-go, immediately setting the benchmark time early on and lowering the bar consistently lap by lap. In the end, Lucas driver Marcus Thunder managed to get within eight thousandths of a second of the Championship contender, with Thierry Xylander close behind in third; once again showing impressive pace, in his final race weekend for Phoenix. Maximilian Thunstrom solidified Lucas’ strong position with a lap good enough for fourth, with Elroy Wagner – beginning his final ever Formula Virtual race weekend – just behind him in fifth. The outgoing German received a rapturous applause from the Brazilian crowd as he left the pits for the first time, showing the great respect that Wagner has gained over the years. Sixth place down to thirteenth were separated by just over one tenth of a second, which left some drivers scratching their heads about how far down the times they found themselves. Champion elect, Nathaniel Powers, could only manage fifteenth fastest, albeit only three tenths of a second away from Klaas’ fastest time. The four-time World Champion spent the majority of the session setting up for the race, instead of setting any real hot laps. Towards the back, Rodolfo de la Fuente struggled slightly to get to grips with his AR02, ending up three tenths off teammate Takahashi; the Spaniard replacing Zander Brynildsen at Arrow for the final race of the season, reportedly as a thank you for his efforts and patience over the last two years. The Highwind and Scuderia Meteor cars made up the final four positions, as has been the norm for the majority of the season, both teams will be hoping for an end to their misery from the start of next season.
