Klaas Van Snelheid put on an excellent display in his Pokemon-adorned Downton this afternoon, leading a pack which saw 25 cars within one second of the lead time. Klaas looked very comfortable in his Downton, setting consistent times all session to find himself on top. They were noah's ark for the first six places, occupied by Downton, Mathershaw, and Franklin in order. The top ten cars were separated by just over three tenths, which while somewhat expected at such a short circuit, is an incredibly competitive prospective grid. We saw a few stand-ins today as Powers gave up his car to the promising Zettici, Klien replacing Hoskins, Zozulya replacing Vasquez and Jochem Van Snelheid replacing Jules Barclay; all of which performed exceptionally well in the French summer sun. Thierry Xylander also impressed once again setting a time nearly 1.6 seconds faster than his teammate, while Jochem Van Snelheid also did well by beating Tumo Kinnumen while standing in for Jules Barclay. Takahashi also looked strong on pace, finishing 17th in the end, but was setting a strong pace in race trim. Halvosen and Kidd struggled after being relegated to Q1, they found themselves inside the third of the grid. The weather played some impact, with drivers initially struggling under the beating sun, but as the temperatures came down, one or two drivers were able to extract some more pace from their cars. Davenport's running was limited due to a spin after picking up the throttle in the final chicane, narrowly avoiding the pit-wall. Despite this, he was only two thousandths off of teammate Felix Beyer, showing there isn't much more for that Meteor to give. Full results below.
