Klaas van Snelheid built on his strong pace from Friday practice to set the fastest time in qualifying. His teammate Nathaniel Powers joins him in a Downton front-row lockout. Behind them however there are a few drivers starting well out of position. Q1 Q1 saw a tight battle throughout the session, as AMR, Arrow, Cheema, and Meteor once again did battle in the first qualifying session. Dmytro Kovalenko and Nikolai Milkovich spent some time at the top of the charts, but in the end it was Tumo Kinnumen who put his Cheema at the top of the timesheets. Lewis Ellington was able to split the Cheemas to set the second fastest time of the session, pipping Milkovich by just 1 millisecond, Ellington's teammate in Yakumi Takahashi was able to squeeze into 4th place with the fastest middle sector of the session. Felix Beyer and Kovelenko were both within a tenth of the Arrows' lap time, but they were eliminated along with their teammates in Giani Ledesma, and Finn Schnyder. AMR and Meteor will now have only had 1 race start in the previous 4 events each after the race tomorrow. See below for the full Q1 classification: Q2 Throughout the session, warmer track conditions began to catch drivers out. It didn't affect Downton however as they had the front row locked out for the majority of the session. Powers couldn't quite find the laptime to match his teammate, and had to settle for second place. Adrien Simon was looking on track to set a time that could've gotten close to pole, but he lost the rear ever so slightly exiting the final corner. The Frenchman set the third fastest time, beating his teammate for the first time this season in qualifying. Championship Leader Enrique Ruiz struggled with overheating tyres in the warmer conditions for the whole session. He starts the race from 9th position as he simply could not find the optimal operating window for his tyres. After Ruiz's teammate, Will Hoskins lead his teammate Felix Perez home to round out the Top 5. Row 3 was completed by Jean Mattson for Ingram. On Friday it was his teammate who got the perfect lap together, but today when it really counted, it was the Frenchman who got it together to qualify best of the rest. Johan Halvosen followed him through and will start 7th, while the 2 Westwoods in Puccio Giodano and Karl Beckenbauer qualified either side of a struggling Ruiz, starting 8th and 10th respectively. The 2 Phoenix cars locked out Row 6 ahead of James Vasquez. The feel good story of the day however was the performance of Enzo Domenicalli. He was down towards the bottom for most of the session, before setting a scorching lap time to qualify 14th. "Gabby" Garcia and Dominykas Zvironas will start behind him on Row 8, and they were the last drivers to qualify within a second of pole sitter van Snelheid. It was well and truly another Saturday afternoon to forget for Lopez. By far their worst qualifying of the season, and it saw Elroy Wagner only capable of setting the 17th fastest time. Allar Kangur on the other hand reported that he still had the same issue from late on in Friday Practice, which he revealed was an issue while accelerating out of the slow corners. He'll start tomorrow's race... wait for it, plumb last. You wouldn't have known this was the same man who won the opening race of the season in Japan. Nick Addison was once again beaten by his returning teammate and he rounded out the Top 20, behind Marcus Thunder and Hunter Ryan. All 4 cars who made it through Q1, with the addition of Thunder's teammate in Carson Davenport, made up positions 21 to 25 on the grid, all ahead of the incredibly dejected Kangur.
