Klaas Van Snelheid continued the strong form he showed in practice to take pole position ahead of tomorrow's race. He will line up with teammate Nathaniel Powers alongside, and Ruiz in third means Wagner qualifies outside the top three for the first time this season. Q1 France marked the first round where the teams required to participate in Q1 were reshuffled, seeing North Star down in the bottom four. They went out and initially set the best times, but were soon beaten by the Arrow pair by just under a tenth of a second. As the session went on, it was clear that Highwind and Meteor would struggle to escape Q1 as they struggled to even get within three tenths of North Star and Arrow. As the flag dropped it was Halvosen who set the fastest time, however Takahashi found more time and was able to take the top spot of the session. Behind them, Brynildsen was a tenth off of Halvosen, but found himself half a tenth in front of Milkovich. This confirmed the suspicions that Highwind and Meteor would not progress. Q2 Q2 began under the beating sun, with drivers hoping to get out and set their laptimes before traffic became an issue. The early laps saw Powers go fastest, tailed closely by teammate Klaas Van Snelheid and home hero Adrien Simon who was within a tenth of the Downtons. In similar fashion to Silverstone, the teams had waited out a cloud cover and the temperatures began to drop. This worked wonders for Franklin who, having struggled on their first runs, were able to place themselves in 4th and 5th in the pecking order. Klaas was able to best his time as the flag dropped, but Powers was less than half a tenth behind and pushing him all the way to the wire. Ruiz was able to pip his teammate to the post for third, leaving Simon somewhat disappointed with 4th. Thierry Xylander looked strong in practice and was able to repeat those heroics today, putting his Phoenix in 13th, although this time round it was only a tenth that separated him from his teammate. Takahashi showed more promising speed this weekend, he starts in 17th behind Westwood's Tumo Kinnumen. Thunstrom and Barclay both struggled, mis-timing their second runs. This saw the rookies occupy 25th and 24th respectively. AMR had a tough session, at a circuit where Ford powered cars seemed to be struggling for pace. It's yet another tight field then, as the entire grid was separated by less than a second. With moderate variation on strategy throughout the pack, we're set for a thrilling and close race tomorrow, and we can't wait for you to join us for it! See full classification below.
