Tumo Kinnumen has ended Monza practice on top ahead of team mate Puccio Giodano for an Ocelot 1-2, but only after the session had to be delayed for half an hour as oil spilt from Nikolai Milkovich's blown engine on his opening lap caused carnage. The Honda engine expired around the Parabolica on the Russian's outlap and dropped oil immediately, giving those directly behind no time to respond. Viktor Östberg, Felix Pérez and then the second Lopez of Elroy Wagner were all caught out and ended up finding the barriers, creating one of the world's most expensive car parks on the outside of the famous corner. With three cars heavily damaged in the barrier and Milkovich's parked just further around the corner the red flags flew immediately, but the ensuing clean up effort took just over half an hour, and dramatically truncated the practice session. It did however mean that once the pit lane light went green once more, action came thick and fast, albeit impressively with no further stoppages or even yellow flags. By the time the chequered flag flew it was the Ocelot's leading the way from Adrien Simon - who is looking to clinch the Championship this weekend - and Nathaniel Powers, with their team mates behind respectively. Enrique Ruiz was the sole Franklin entrant with a time in seventh ahead of the Ingram's, Holmqvist's, Phoenix's and North Star cars, while both AMR's and Meteor's impressed by beating Oleksandr Zozulya in the FIRST.
