Allar Kangur has put himself firmly in the frame for the vacant seat at DS Mathershaw next season as the 2016 VWRS Champion lapped fastest on day two by nearly fourth tenths of a second, also beating fellow DS Mathershaw junior Thierry Xylander's time from yesterday by over two tenths. The test was believed to have been a shoot-out for the seat with DS Mathershaw using data gathered - rather than solely outright pace - to decide on who will partner Adrien Simon at the team next season. There have however been strong rumours in the paddock that a deal has been struck with technical partners Downton for their outgoing driver Marcus Thunder to ditch his IndyVirtual plans and make an immediate return to FV. Rodolfo de la Fuente was second fastest for Franklin ahead of Jamie Gerrard with FV3 Champion Zander Brynildsen getting his first run in an FV car and setting the fourth fastest time. Yrjänä Vähäsöyrinki was fifth ahead of Dmytro Kovalenko in the AMR - whom many believe was being tested for a race seat in 2017 - while Sergio Álvarez focused on longer runs in the Westwood with the eighth fastest time. Ryota Yoshida was ninth for Ocelot while Felix Pérez turned heads as he set the tenth fastest time, lapping quicker than Rafael Palou in the Downton. James Vasquez continued his impressive form from yesterday by pulling Holmqvist off the foot of the table, a position that was taken by 2016 VARS Champion Gabriele García for North Star. See below for the days full times: Below are combined times for both days of the test. Where the same driver drove the same car for both days, the slower time has been omitted from these results:
