For the sixth year in succession, Australia will have the honors of opening the season, but will return to Albert Park after a sole race at Philip Island in 2017. Brazil will once again close out the season at So Paulo, with a fantastic final race in 2017 helping their bid. Portugal will be absent from the calendar for the first time since 2013 and leaving Carson Davenport without a home race. In it's place, the Slovakian V-Prix held at the Slovakiaring will make it's debut in Formula Virtual. A Slovakian V-Prix has been tipped to make the calendar sine 2016 but has always fallen short, but this time, according to series CEO Nic Morley the ingredients were all there.
As Philip Island and Estoril leave the series, in returns Albert Park and Slovakiaring makes i debut, creating an eighteen race schedule once again. According to reports; an Indonesian race held at Sentul, an Argentinian race held at Buenos Aires, a Polish race held at Poznan, and a Singapore race held at Marina Bay were all in consideration for a spot on the 2018 calendar, but fell out due to agreements not being met. "In a way I am happy to present a much smaller change in a race schedule for 2018, and I feel we need a bit of continuation after the changes of regulations fr this year. Philip Island, while producing an exiting race, was always going to be a stop gap and I'm very happy to see Albert Park return. I am excited to see the first Slovakian V-Prix this year. They have been in the mix since 2016, but finally this year all the ingredients are their for it to finally happen, and I am fully confident the layout can produce a fascinating race", said Nic Morley. "There was a lot of negotiating happening hence the later than usual confirmation of the race calendar. A Singapore V-Prix was very close to happening, however unfortunately has a couple things holding it back to becoming a reality. However I wouldn't rule out a race at Marina Bay in the future. An Argentinian V-Prix was very close too, but a joint decision was made to leave it be for now", finished Morley.
