After being announced as the new owner of Meteor less than 24 hours ago, Adam Willis has already begun to make his mark on the ailing team, quickly suggesting that neither Simon or Vocquelin will race for Meteor for the 2019 or 2020 seasons, despite contracts in place to do so.
Willis had this to say: “I feel Meteor was perhaps headed in the wrong direction. This is a team that knows how to win but has lost its way. I don’t feel the youngsters were the way to go, which is why they will be dropped for next season. It may seem harsh, but I feel it was far worse to have promoted them so early in their career,”
More news continued to spill out of the refurbished Meteor team as reports suggest that Karl Beckenbauer is scheduled to race for the team in the final two rounds after Monza, with the hope that he will continue to race for the outfit for the 2019 season, though it is unconfirmed at this time whom he will replace this year.
What is confirmed, however, is that the team will be racing with a fresh paint job for the Mexican V-Prix, as shown below:
