In a surprise turn of events, Ingram GP today announced the signing of French driver Jean Mattson for 2015, bought from mid table rivals Peugeot. In a brief interview following practice, Ingram team boss William Ingram confirmed that the 'mystery team' that Mattson had signed with were the green and orange Ingram cars.
"To be honest, it's all a bit of a surprise to me as well, both Diego and Niko have won races this year and we were looking at the junior formulae for replacements for Arden. We started hearing rumours of Mattson's availability, made some enquiries, and they responded positively, we're absolutely thrilled!" Jean Mattson had initially been signed to lead Meteor next season, but has since been replaced by two rookies in Stuart Harrison and Arden Hutchinson (Ingram's current test driver), when asked if this concerned him, Ingram replied "Well, we know Arden is a good driver, and Harrison has impressed the paddock with his performances in IJGPC, or FV2? Whatever its called! But Mattson has shown quality in this sport, and I'm surprised we were able to get him. He was close to being champion last season, and has impressed me this year as well." What will this mean for current drivers, many will wonder, Campos is a firm favourite in the garage, having scored the team's first points, podium and victory, but Milkovich has consistently beaten the Spaniard and is well regarded by constructors champions Franklin and series organiser Nic Morley. Ingram refused to say who would make way, although we would hedge our bets that Campos would make way.
