Hello everyone! And welcome to the live stream! We are coming to you straight from the Franklin factory with an important announcement! So...here we are, and you guessed it, the rumours are true and we are gathered here for possibly THE most bizarre and yet entertaining way any team has ever decided who will be driving for them, and I'm not just talking about Formula Virtual, but in all of Motorsport.
As most of you, I'm sure, are aware, Franklin have yet to decide their driver line-up for the upcoming 2022 season. What we do know, however, is that it's going to be a toss up between these four drivers I have with me here (Camera pans). We have star rookie - Danilo Forini, the race winning and soon to be dad - Nick Addison, the youngster who's been flying with Phoenix - Thierry Xylander, and the veteran who has yet to have a chance at a proper FV drive - Felipe Cesar! These drivers have all been signed up to the Franklin team for 2022, but only two of these guys will be given a chance at a full season next year, so how do you decide between this kind of talent?! Well, this is how we decide - 5 races. 5 formats. 5 different locations. That's right, you heard it here first. These guys will be going head to head to decide who will be driving for the three time World Champions next year. When will this take place I hear you ask? The first competition will be set to take place the day after the Belgian V-Prix, with the format of the event being revealed on the day. And if you think that's not enough, then we've got yet another surprise for you. (Camera pans) That's right, former Ingram driver Jonas Phipps will be joining the fray to make it a fatal 5-way for the coveted positions of being a Franklin driver. Danilo...how're you feeling about this?! DF: Honestly...I'm kinda pumped for this! I really don't know what to expect, we haven't been given any kind of brief of what kind of event we will be doing...I mean, presumably it has something to do with the driving, because if it's something like cooking, I may have to be asking Matteo for some advice! But yeah, I'm all for entertaining the fans, and definitely will be looking forward to proving myself. Great stuff! Can't lie, I wouldn't be disappointed to see the Great Franklin Bake Off! And what about you, Nick? NA: You know me, mate, always up for a challenge. Obviously got a lot on my plate at the moment, and didn't really expect this to be something I'd have to add to all of that, but I suppose in a way it's the fairest way to decide. Although, Jamie, mate...if you're watching...two wins, mate... Thierry! Welcome to the Franklin factory! What do you make of it? TX: Well, I have to say, I didn't expect to be doing this kind of thing when I got the call from Jamie earlier in the year about joining the team, but Franklin have never been the most conventional team in a lot of ways. I'd say my performances this year have shown what I can do, the pace that I have, so with that kind of form I think I can take on whatever is thrown at me, for sure. And for sure I wouldn't be here if I didn't think that I could win. And on to you Felipe, you've never quite made it to the grid in FV, so how are you feeling about this shot? FC: For sure, as Thierry said, this is very unconventional, but I am a fighter. I have fought my way to be here, I have been quick in everything I've done and as you say this is the best shot I've had at a seat, so I'm not going to lose that opportunity. Excellent. And finally, Jonas...it's been a while since we've heard from you. You were linked with a Franklin seat for the 2014 season, but it never came to fruition, but here you are now, some eight years later. JP: Yeeeah, it's really been a while hasn't it. All I can really say is that...that passion never goes away. I know these guys are very good, and I've not been at the forefront of the Motorsport for a long time, but I am so hungry. I am still fairly young and you have to take these chances. I convinced Jamie to give me a shot, so clearly there is some belief there because he doesn't want somebody who is just going to be a nothing out on track. So it's my job to take that opportunity now and run with it. As you can see, there's a lot of fire and passion in these five guys, and we don't have long to wait until the first round of The Franklin and the Furious.
