With the mid-point in the season upon us, we took the time to sit down and talk to with Franklin F1 driver, Will Hoskins about how he thinks the season has gone so far, and where he expects it to go from here. Reporter:
"So Will, you've just finished on the podium again, another third place in the bag, and you're sitting in fourth place in the Championship. How do you feel the season has gone so far?" Will Hoskins: "I think I've had a good season so far. Three podiums so far, including one win and a pole position. The car has been phenomenal and the team fantastic, and I think it's only going to get better," R: "As I said before, you're fourth in the standings at the moment, but that is 70 points behind your younger team mate, Nathaniel Powers. Is it frustrating to be so far behind at this point, and do you feel that the battle is more for second place now?" WH: "I'd be lying if I said that it didn't bother me a little. As I mentioned, the car is very good, and Nathan has proven this time and time again, being on the podium in all but one race, and three wins already. However, I've had a few issues to contend with, and a little bit of bad luck at times. Nathan hasn't had any so far, and that could well shift in the second part of the season. If you look at the number of points I've lost from either being blocked in qualifying, or my car failure in Malaysia and then compare that to the pace that Nathan had in those races and I think it's easy to see that my performance hasn't been as bad as the points would have you believe. I'd say at least 15 in Australia, 25 in Malaysia, maybe 15 in Bahrain and then the gap looks far less. The only mistake I've really made is the one in Spain, which I'll try not to repeat, as it could have cost me the victory, or at least a podium. I'm not saying that I'd be ahead of Nathan, or that he hasn't done a great job, because he has and he deserves to be at the top," R: "So you still think you can win the Championship?" WH: "Absolutely. I still have a chance. Anything can change in the blink of an eye. Nathan has enjoyed a number of good races, not finishing lower than 4th in the first seven, but to beat him I'm going to need to start by finishing ahead of him in every race. 225 points are still left on the table, so whilst I'm out there to help the team win the title, I'll also be keeping one eye on Nathan and pushing as hard as possible to beat him, so long as it doesn't have any negative effect on the team result," R: "Your confidence seems to have certainly boosted since being re-signed by the team, but who do you think will partner you next season, with rumours about Phipps and also the recent signing of Mattias Hirvonen?" WH: "It definitely has. I feel much better in myself, and I think it shows in my results. As for next season...it's not really something I'm focused on right now. I know Jamie and Nathan are talking all the time about next season, but I don't know what's going on. I've heard some things, but I'm not allowed to say. Obviously I think Nathan is a great driver, so I would welcome the challenge of competing against him again," R: "Finally, the French Grand Prix is right around the corner. What will you be aiming for? WH: "Every time I go racing, I aim to win. Anything less is always a disappointment, and given the car and how much I love the circuit...I think have a good chance, but we won't really know until we take to the c
