FIRST Motorsport Team Co-owner and Team Principal Adam Blocker had the following to say in his post-race press conference:
“The win today is just a huge boost for the team. For one, both sides of the garage have won now. That’s huge for the mechanics and engineers on the 74 car to get their moment to celebrate and build some confidence in each other. It was also huge because we always bring as many people we can from the factory in Charlotte to this race and Ford brings as many people from the FV program as it can from Detroit to watch the race. All of those men and women that put in the hours to make these cars as good as they are got to see one of them win in person. That’s better than any bonus I can give them in terms of morale. Also, besides the morale boost, the result puts us 14 points back from the constructors’ championship lead after 9 races. That’s super cool.” Will Hoskins also expressed his joy and appreciation after the win: “I knew we needed some help to win. Fortunately for us we nailed the strategy and got some help from Downton’s technical issues and executed perfectly. I can’t thank everyone on the team enough for giving me the opportunity. It’s hard going so long without a win, you start worrying that maybe it won’t happen again. Especially when I was driving my heart out just to score points the last couple years. That’s why I am getting fucking wasted tonight with the boys. It’s a huge relief, a huge breakthrough. And we still have seven races more left in this season to make it happen again, I’m optimistic that Felix or myself can at least win one more this year.” Will’s win also makes him the first driver to win a Formula Virtual race with three teams: Franklin, FUN, and FIRST. He has had one of the most up and down career paths of any driver in the sport, but he has been strong with every team he’s driven for. And he has proven that 6 seasons after his 2014 title challenge at 34 years of age he can still get it done.
