Will Hoskins has finished fastest in practice for the Malaysian V-Prix, the FIRST man lapping just under a tenth quicker than Downton's Klaas van Snelheid. While the session was quiet in terms of incidents or problems, a significant amount of on-track activity took place, with 29 of the 30 cars lapping with 1.8 seconds. Behind the top two ran the two Mathershaw Porsche cars - split by a tenth and a half with Simon leading his Brazilian team mate, while Nathaniel Powers completed the top five - just over half a tenth off of the ultimate pace. Hoskins' usual team mate Felix Perez sat the session out as FIRST gave Stefan Klien a run in the car - the Austrian ending the day sixth, six and a half tenths behind his team mate. Behind Klien was Japan race winner Allar Kangur, while Jean Mattson, Gabriele Garcia and Sergio Alvarez completed the top ten. Nikolai Milkovich was an impressive twelfth but Elroy Wagner and both Ocelot cars seemed to struggle in the heat; filling the positions of fourteenth to sixteenth. Finn Schnyder and Dmytro Kovalenko gave AMR hope of qualifying for the first time this season with eighteenth and twenty-first respectively; the third and fourth fastest times of the runners competing in Q1. Likewise Arrow showed a marked improvement to be twenty-third and twenty-fourth - between Tumo Kinnumen and Karl Beckenbauer - while Lucas were another team that struggled behind them. Felix Beyer also had a tough day down in twenty-eighth, though was just two tenths behind returnee team mate Giani Ledesma up in twentieth, while Franklin rounded out the runners.
