It was a cool day at Magny-Cours with no sounds of rain in the area. It was Will Hoskins who claimed pole position and will start from the optimum position on race day. Karl Beckenbauer was second quickest for Liverpool, edging out his third quickest teammate Adrien Simon in third. The star of the session was Tumo Kinnumen in fourth; the Fin was less then two tenths of a second away from pole in his Westwood. It was another eyebrow raising performance from Nikolai Milkovich; the Ingram driver set the fifth quickest time. After securing his maiden win last time out in Portugal, Enrique Ruiz was sixth fastest. Lewis Ellington followed him in seventh for Peugeot. Nathaniel Powers was the highest placed Downton in eighth, in what has been mediocre weekend so for the team. Puccio Giodano and Jean Mattson rounded out the top ten. Marcus Thunder missed out on a top ten start with the eleventh fastest time. Diego Campos ensured both Ingram's in the top twelve while he was followed by Douglas Bacon on his return to the series with Westwood. Kurtis Gardner edged Hugh Dwyer for the fourteenth fastest time. They were followed by Elroy Wagner, Lee Fuller, Carson Davenport, and Regi Abott. Hiroto Nakumaya was the highest placed Force Australia in twentieth, edging out the Rossi of Enzo Domenicalli in what was a disappointing day for the Italian. Michal Kubat was twenty-second for Warrior with Felix Beyer and Abel Osterhagen filling out the back row of the grid. With eight points separating the top four drivers in the championship; it has never been a close in the series before. Championship leader Will Hoskins is best placed to extend his lead, however his teammate Enrique Ruiz will have his eyes on making up a few positions during the race. Karl Beckenbauer will be looking at taking the lead into turn one and thefor returning to the top of the drivers championship after a few recent frustrating races. Adrien Simon is eight points away from the championship lead and will have the French crowd cheering him on as he bids for a home win from third on the grid. The race is set to be dry with a mere ten percent chance of rain. With the weather looking set to be dry the question on everyone's minds will be; what will be the next twist in an already exiting championship?
