Regarding the contact with Simon, Hoskins remarked that he “…expected more out of Adrien to be honest. I’ve raced him for a long time and we’ve had a lot of good moments over the years. Today, he lost his head with that rejoin. Its just a shame as well, because I think you look at where guys like Kangur finished that were behind me on the road and on the same strategy – it could have been a really strong finish for us.”
The DNF continues a poor string of results for the Brit, who has failed to score in the last 5 races. In 3 of those races he did not finish, and in Belgium he had a self-inflicted incident that dropped him well out of the points. He only has 3 points scoring finishes this season: a fine 2nd place at his home race at Silverstone, a 5th at Malaysia, and a 10th at Jerez. Teammate Felix Perez has had some struggles this season as well, with 2 retirements and 3 poor finishes due to contact but has still scored almost twice the number of points as Hoskins. Asked what his 2022 plans are looking like, Hoskins admitted that options are limited: “Its no secret that I don’t currently have a drive lined up for next season. FIRST and I haven’t been able to come to suitable terms right now – I can’t elaborate further on that – and while I’ve had discussions with a couple of other teams, nothing has gotten past early stages. We’re in October as well now, so that doesn’t leave much more time to secure a deal.” When pressed on what teams Hoskins has had preliminary discussions with, Hoskins refused to comment.
