Gray Autosport have confirmed following today’s rumours, that they have filed an application with the FVA for entry into the 2024 Formula Virtual championship. Should this be accepted, they would become the 15th on the grid for next year, replacing the departing North Star, who leave the sport after 8 years in the sport. When reached out for an interview, team owner and team principal Luca Gray said,
“It’s a great feeling to be announcing our formal application into Formula Virtual. We are ready for the step up after many years in sportscars and the junior formulae. We hope that the guys at the FVA see that and we are the right choice to become the 15th team next year.” Should this application be accepted, Gray would become the 4th British team in next year’s championship, joining Downton, Ingram and Phoenix. Little is known about what the team would look like personnel-wise should they be accepted. Whilst it is almost certain Luca Gray would be team principal, there is currently nothing in place in terms of engine and drivers. However, with Gray’s connections in virtual motorsport, this shouldn’t prove to be a challenge. The likes of Lamborghini would be a potential engine supplier, as Gray is currently deputy team principal there, and there would be no problem attracting exciting drivers from sportscars and junior formulae for Gray Autosport.
