It's been a tumultuous season for the former World Champions, with many highs and lows across the season, seeing them sitting third in the Championship with one round to go, embroiled in a battle with Lopez. Although it's a vast improvement from their 'return' in 2020, it seems team principal Jamie Franklin seems to be considering leaving for good following his statement after the Mexican V-Prix. "This will likely fall on deaf ears because I've said something in the past, and it'll seem like the boy who cried wolf. Even if anyone does take notice, it'll just seem like sour grapes based on our comments this year following a year which could have honestly gone a lot better had things gone our way a little.
That being said, whether you believe it or not, I'm seriously considering leaving FV for good this time. I was burned out at the end of 2019 with a lot going on in my life, but decided to continue on in the sport, if nothing else but to enjoy just being here and smelling the roses whilst I'm at it. But that's not who I am. That's not in my nature. I am in incredibly competitive person at heart and I am obsessed with getting back to where I know the team should be. At the heart of it, results aside, I am not enjoying myself, and it is bringing out the worst in me. I don't like it, and I can't continue like this," Unlike in 2019, it seems as though Franklin have a number of commitments for the following year, so it appears at this stage that the British outfit will continue into the tenth year of the sport, however, it's unknown how much Jamie Franklin will be involved, or whether someone new will be taking over the helm in his stead. Sources indicate that Jamie may even end up missing the Brazilian V-Prix, which would be the first time that the team owner would have missed a race since the team was formed.
