Less than 24 hours after Nic Morley announced he would be stepping down as CEO of Formula Virtual, the racing series that has run for seven successful years and has teams and fans from across the globe, it is now revealed that he has found a suitable replacement. Former team principal Lilly Westwood has officially agreed to take control of running the series from 2020 onwards, for the foreseeable future. Here are the press release statements, from Nic and then Lilly, regarding the change of hands;
Nic Morley: "This like a hard break up. I know I still love Formula Virtual but I know it’s for the best for everyone involved. It has been one of my favourite things in life the last seven years to run this series, and I have met some great people along the way. Now it is time for me to let go and move to other things in life. It’s been a privilege but all things eventually must come to an end." "I am very excited to see Formula Virtual continue under new leadership, under no other than the great Lilly Westwood. I have no doubt in my mind that she will do a brilliant job at taking over the top job. I will finish off the current season but I will always be giving support and guidance to Lilly to ensure a smooth transfer of FV leadership. It’s been a pleasure being able to run this series for all the teams and fans out there, but now it’s time to focus on the future and in particular having a great end to an already thrilling 2019 season" Lilly Westwood: "When I saw that Nic was ending his tenure as CEO, I was pretty shocked; as I expect we all were! But I knew in my heart that this was my next step, and in a way I felt a calling. I'm incredibly glad I've been able to take up ownership of the series, and I'll be making sure the whole time that I live up to the incredible standard the Nic here has set. As Nic says, the next six months are about finishing off an already wonderful season, and settling into my new role ready to begin with the 2020 season. I'm honestly very excited for this opportunity, it's something new for me and something new for the series. Of course, this does naturally mean that Westwood Racing won't be entering next season, at least not with myself at the helm. But I'm okay with that, and I'm working on ensuring the staff find work easily and without stress. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Nic, truly and deeply from the bottom of my heart, for everything he's built here. It's a phenomenal community and a fantastic series, and I just hope I can make you proud mate. Here's to a (hopefully) cracking end to 2019; and a cracking era!" This news will surely put a lot of fans, as well as workers, team owners, and drivers at ease, knowing their livelihood is secure for the foreseeable future. For now, thankyou for reading, and as ever we'll see you on the grid!
