Goodyear will remain as the sole tyre supplier of Formula Virtual until at least the end of the 2023 season. The FVA decided to renew with Goodyear for a further two years after the 2021 season ends. Goodyear has been the sole tyre supplier of Formula Virtual since the 2017 season and has been instrumental in creating many different race strategies.
Both the FVA and Goodyear were handed a tough task over the winter break, to alter the tyre grip and wear rate to match up with the altered race length for the 2021 season. After a lot of thought and hard work it is believed both parties are very satisfied with the outcome. Goodyear has been publicly praised by the FVA for it's ability on adapting to the new race length rules. "Last year we announced a twenty-five percent reduction in the race length for the upcoming season. Obviously, as you know, we received mixed reception from fans and teams alike, so it was extremely important we nail the new tyre compounds so strategy can continue to be a fantastic part of the race. It has been a time consuming and difficult task, but we are very confident we have hit the nail on the head with this one, and thus should make up for the race length reduction". "Goodyear have been very helpful in this process and as always, they have shown to us that their hard work, efficiency, and professionalism has paid off. Formula Virtual is delighted to continue this partnership with Goodyear until at least the end of the 2023 season. For now though, we are all excited for a brilliant 2021 season coming to us in a couple of months", said Nic Morley. The 2021 season is getting closer by the day with some teams already revealing their liveries, with many more expected to reveal in the coming weeks. Pre-season is set to run in early March, with the first race in early April.
