"Hello, and welcome back to Formula Forini, the only Formula Virtual podcast out there, hosted by yours truly, Danilo Forini! We've got a really special episode today, as I will be joined by the feisty Australian - Nick Addison!" "But before I welcome Nick, there is something that needs to be addressed first. This weekend we saw Downton secure their third World Championship, equalling Franklin's record set back in 2015, which funnily enough also happened to coincide with Jamie's birthday, which I find a little ironic. Obviously this is a huge achievement and I want to wish them a massive congratulation. That not only comes from me, but also from the whole Franklin team, and yes I have been told to say that! As an Enrique Ruiz supporter, I have to say I was more hoping it would go the other way, at least in terms of the Driver's Championship, but after Mexico it does seem to be a little bit more unlikely, but anything can happen, and I'm excited to see what happens in Brazil!"
"But as I said earlier, that's not all we'll be talking about today, as we have the esteemed Nick Addison with us today, so welcome to you, Nick!" "Ah, thanks very much for having me, mate! Nice to be the first guest here on your podcast," "No, thank you for being kind enough to come on! So how are you doing? What's been going on with you?" "I'm good thanks, mate! As you probably know, we've been packing up from the Mexican V-Prix and getting ready to head out for Brazil for the final race of the season, so been helping the team out, done a little bit of work in the simulator so that we can hopefully get off to a better start in Brazil than we have for the last couple of races," "Yeah, I think it's safe to say that the last couple of races maybe haven't gone the best for you. I know for me it's been a little difficult to watch Franklin struggle, not only in the last few races, but over the course of the year, it's really not been what I have been used to seeing. How has that been for you? You're one of three people to have driven what is really a subpar Franklin, compared to previous years," "I won't lie to you, mate, it's not been easy. You know as well as I do that as drivers we want to be right up the front fighting for wins, for Championships, and that's what I wanted when I signed with this team. I knew coming into it that this year was going to be tough, but in some ways it has taken the pressure off too. Once we were established as a 'backmarker' team, as difficult as it is for me to say that, it allowed us, me in particular, to knuckle down and ya' know, get to work. When you're up the front, all eyes are on you to perform, but when you're towards the back, you can spend a little bit more time working things out, getting to grip with the nuances of the sport, and building up a strong foundation for the future," "So are you saying maybe I should have signed or been loaned out to a lower team for my first year? Haha" "Aha, nah, mate, I'm sure you'll do fine, I mean to be honest, with a team like this and the experience they have, and the passion that you feel from them as soon as you walk into their headquarters, you don't necessarily 'need' that, but that's how I'm choosing to see it, since I can't really do anything about it this year," "I definitely get what you mean about this team, I mean, ever since I have signed with them, I feel like I've definitely benefited from their knowledge, their experience, and I know that even though next year will be tough, I know that they will be able to guide me through it," "Oh year, absolutely, although I'm not going to pretend like it's a walk in the park! They definitely expect results, and next year that furnace is only going to burn hotter," "Speaking of next year, what are your plans so far? I know we've talked about you wanting to stay at Franklin, and for whatever reason that hasn't been given the go ahead. Do you have anything else lined up just in case?" "Well, interesting that you should bring that up, mate! I have been given the go ahead to announce that I will in fact be driving for the Franklin team for 2021, so we'll be team mates come next year!" "Ah really?! No-one has told me yet, that's really exciting!" "Yeah, I'm honestly thrilled. I think most people expected it, and I know I was pushing for it, and for the most part was confident that it would happen, but you can't blame them for wanting to put the feelers out and see what was out there. The contract for me staying in the family, if you will, was done a long time ago, but it was just about my position within the team that needed to be cemented. It's really exciting for me because I know that the car will be better next year. I think we've laid some really stable foundations going forward, and I'm looking forward to battling a bit further up the grid!" "Well I'm certainly really looking forward to us working more together in the future. I know that you, among many at Franklin have made me feel really welcome coming into the team, so together I think we can definitely get Franklin back to their winning ways. But for now I know you're short on time and need to get back to work, so thank you again for coming on and I'll probably see you soon!" "Take care, mate!" "So there we have it, Nick Addison will be joining me in Franklin for 2021. Like he said, I think the car is going to be better than it was this year and obviously very excited to turn the wheel of a Formula Virtual car for the very first time. Obviously before that, I have to remain focused on VWRS and the titanic title fight! Anything can happen in the final round, and I know that I've only taken the one win this season, so for me I'd like to really end the season on a high and prove to everyone that Franklin was right for choosing me, not only by winning races but also the Championship. I have some stiff competition of course, so it's certainly going to be one to watch. But for now, that's it from the Formula Forini podcast. Thank you very much for tuning in and I'll see you next time!"
