The main new part of the logo is the Palmetto tree, which is a symbol of both the state of South Carolina and the team’s new co-owners – the Palmetto Racing Group. The Palmetto tree is also positioned on top of a podium shaped black box, a play on words with the team’s name. Credit goes to Nick Forrest for helping design the team's logo.
After presenting the logo to those in attendance for the press conference, FIRST Motorsport Team Principal and co-owner Adam Blocker discussed future operational changes for the team: “I’m excited to announce that FIRST Motorsport will also be moving to a new facility in Rock Hill, South Carolina that is currently under construction and will be complete in mid to late 2021. This is a project we’ve been working on planning for a year or so now, but we couldn’t get the funding to start it until Palmetto Racing Group got involved. When we started in Formula Virtual, we bought the facility we are in now in Charlotte. It was originally built as a stock car facility in the late 1990s, and while it has been updated a lot since then it lacks some of the facilities we would like to have on site. For example, we can only run 1/4th scale wind tunnel testing here and have to rent a nearby facility to do anything more than that. Additionally, as we have grown personnel-wise we are running out of places to put people. Both our engineering offices and manufacturing center have grown quite a bit over the past couple years as our performances have improved and our budget has increased. We’ve added whole new departments since we’ve started, such as a Driver-In-the-Loop simulator, a materials testing lab, and a significantly expanded prototype manufacturing department. For these reasons and more, it made sense for us financially and operationally to move to a new facility over in Rock Hill that will allow us to do all of the things we want to do more easily. With the current facility being in Charlotte and so much racing activity happening around here, we are also optimistic that we will be able to find a buyer within the next couple years to help us offset the cost of the new facility to a certain extent.” Blocker did not discuss the team’s yet to be announced driver lineup for 2021 or if there are any sponsorship changes for 2021, saying that those things would be announced shortly. The new facility in Rock Hill, SC is about a 30-minute drive from the team’s current location in southwest Charlotte. It is understood that employees that will have their commute significantly lengthened will have moving costs covered by the team if they choose to move closer to Rock Hill.
