The championship leader was looking strong all session, and puts his name at the top of the order for the Friday practice session. Ruiz opened the weekend in fine form, topping practice in his Porsche Team Mathershaw car, once again adorned in the unmistakable Brumos Racing Team tribute livery. He looked comfortable all session while racking up the miles, with the next closest car being Nathaniel Powers, just over a tenth back. Klaas Van Snelheid completed the top three another tenth back from his teammate. Will Hoskins once again showed the strong pace of FIRST, clocking a time within half a tenth of the dutchman, good enough to go fourth, while an arguably disappointing session sees Adrien Simon round out the top five; the Frenchman suffered limited running and couldn't get a rhythm going due to traffic issues, leaving him three tenths off of his teammate. Behind the usual top six, it was another strong display from Westwood, as Karl Beckenbauer set a time good enough for seventh place, and Inman stepping into Giodano's car only just over eight hundredths behind the German, and sandwiching the Ingram of Mattson in eighth. The Bolton based team will be looking to build on their recent momentum this weekend. Marcus Thunder also put in an excellent showing in the Lucas car, achieving a time good enough to place him tenth in the time sheets; with Cheema scoring a standout finish last time out at Indy, Lucas will definitely be after a strong result to try and keep the Irish outfit under pressure. It wasn't plain sailing for everyone out there today though, with some surprisingly troubled performances. North Star found themselves mired down in seventeenth and eighteenth, suffering with setup issues at the circuit wherethey famously took their maiden win three years ago. Another mixed bag for Lopez, with Wagner managing fourteenth but Kangur only able to get himself twenty-third. Finally, Meteor and AMR looked to struggle with their respective packages, with Ledesma and Beyer leading Schnyder and Kovalenko in the bottom four with a large margin to their Q1 rivals Arrow and Franklin, the latter doing better than some may have expected. Full classification from the session below.
