Downton have become the latest team to unveil their car for the upcoming 2020 Formula Virtual season; with pictures unveiling online of the challenger - the BD08. 2020 marks the first year of the new Downton branding, and the first year in which the team are in a technical partnership with McLaren, following the departure of long-term partners DS Automobiles. While changes were expected to the livery to accommodate the new McLaren link and the addition of a few new sponsors, no-one could quite have expected the Downton to be unveiled in the colour scheme it has been. The team released a short statement to accompany the pictures being posted online. "We are very excited to launch the BD08 and unveil it to the world. We know the look of the car will come as a shock to many, but can assure you all there are very good reasons for it - however we cannot publicly announce these at the present time. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank departing technical partners DS Automobiles, and also departing sponsors Aviva and EE, who are replaced on the car by A-Plan and Vodafone respectively. In addition, the livery now features BP's Castrol brand as opposed to the parent company, the Amazon logo features on the nose thanks to an incredible new deal, and Mind replaces Samaritans on the engine cover as we look to take a bigger focus on promoting mental health in particular. We'd like to welcome all of our new sponsors, and also new technical partners McLaren, with whom we are looking forward to a brilliant first season together. Make no mistake about it, the title fight with Franklin in 2019 has had a significant effect on the development of this car, but nonetheless we look forwards to a competitive season. We still aim to be right there fighting at the front, and I'm sure our drivers will give it their all as ever; both coming back far fitter and far more motivated after the winter break as a result of our new personal fitness trainers, who have also been working with all of the mechanics. See you on track at Dijon-Prenois in just over a week for testing."
