Defending Champions Downton have unveiled their challenger for the 2022 season, with team principal Bradley Downton claiming the revised livery sees Downton "enter a new era" as they embark on their first season without Nathaniel Powers behind the wheel since 2013. As has now become the norm for the team, a private event was held on Saturday evening for 100 lucky fans who won tickets in an online competition to attend the teams factory and see the car in person before it was unveiled online to the public today at 10am. The BD10 features a revised livery for the team, seeing a more simplistic design than in recent years, something which largely came about as a response to the teams testing livery - in which they ran a completely orange car with black sponsors only. "We were always looking to do something different for this season," Downton said in a press release alongside the launch. "With the BD10, we enter a new era in Formula Virtual with Klaas and Matteo leading the way for us. To reflect that, we wanted to revise the livery, while not losing the teams identity. I think we've managed that. We've also listened to the feedback from our testing livery - which people seemed to love, and have tried to keep things a little more understated than in recent years." As was expected, Repsol have departed the team after just one season - seemingly cutting ties after the departure of Nathaniel Powers - however both Castrol and Aviva have rejoined the team, the latter bringing back flashes of yellow to the car. "It looks smart," Downton continued. "We've been keen to add something else for a while but I'm not sure many of the past ideas have worked all too well, but I think the addition of just a hint of yellow really does. But of course, it's more about how the car performs as opposed to how it looks, and thankfully we seemed to have solid pace in testing. Both drivers are comfortable with it already, and so we're hoping to start the season with strong results in Fuji."
