Cheema FV Racing have revealed their first ever car, the Imad-01 in an event in their factory in Dublin, becoming the fourth team to reveal their 2019 challenger just a few days into 2019. Some reporters and a few fans were present as team principal Ahmed Cheema, technical director Kimi Young and 3 other employees unveiled the car. Cheema were the second new/returning team to enter for 2019 and became the first 14th team in Formula Virtual. Like everyone else they will run Goodyear tyres and will use Alfa Romeo engines alongside Ocelot, who are their technical partners. Cheema said “Since about mid-season last year, everyone here has been working extremely hard to get together a competitive package for next season, especially after we were confirmed on the grid for this year. Ocelot and Rai Miyamoto have been a massive help and so have the guys and girls at Alfa, all who helped us with their experience. We have also worked closely with Petronas, who supply us with fuel and work with Alfa. The most credit, however, goes to Kimi, who managed to design the car and direct the whole construction of it. So, without further a due, here’s the Imad-01!” “We went for a red car, my favourite colour, but we wanted to incorporate Ireland, so we have parts of green, white and orange. It worked out good in the end and I adore it. Along with Alfa and Petronas, our other sponsors are Hype, Motorsport Ireland and Dublin Simon Community. We’ve elected to go without the shark fin, and on that note, I’ll hand it over to Kimi.”
Kimi Young stepped onto the podium. “I’m very glad to be working with Cheema this year. I meet Ahmed a few years ago when I left Finland. I previously only worked in junior series so this was a challenge but I enjoyed it. We managed to get a good chassis together and working closely with Alfa allowed us to fit the engine perfectly. I'm hoping we can get a few decent results this year." Cheema came back onto the podium. "Lets be honest, we're a new team and with pre-qualifying its going to be very hard to crack the too ten or even fight some of the established teams, but we'll try our best. Hopefully we can get out of Q1 a few times but overall this is a learning year for us and I'm looking forward to it. See you in Melbourne! Comments are closed.
